Trying to make the most of a sick day

A few days ago, I came down with my second cold of the season, and today I just couldn’t manage to drag myself to work. So, I took advantage of the down time to get started on our guest list. So far I’m at about 130. I expect Rich will have a few more additions, but I think we’ll be able to keep it under 150 total.

Another big decision we both need to make is soon is who’s going to be standing with us. I’m really lucky that I don’t have to worry about finding a maid of honor. Tiffany’s perfect for the job – she’s the sort of woman I’d want as my MOH even if we weren’t related; experienced, organized, and has great taste. Now I just have to figure out how many additional bridesmaids I want in the party. I have four other ladies in mind, but we need to figure out Rich’s groomsmen first, so we can balance the two sides.

Still looking at venues…

I think we’re going to rule out Hotel Palomar, because they’re wanting way too much money for their food.  And the Japanese Tea Gardens won’t allow an open bar, so that’s right out.

Today I’m looking at the Texas Discovery Gardens, which is located at Fair Park. They have a lovely ballroom (from the pictures I’ve seen), but I’ll have to do a tour sometime soon and check it out in person.
